Small Creators

Hey Thomas, I am a small creator based in Germany that focuses on US sports. As you can imagine I don't have a huge following, but I do have some loyal fans that are subscribed to my newsletter and listen to most podcast episodes I put out there. Do you think LT Fan Platform is something I could be using given my limited reach?

To give you more guidance it would be good to have a few more data points. But in general: If you create quality content for a small-but-engaged fan base, LT Fan Platform is definitely for you. Kevin Kelly once wrote a famous piece "1000 True Fans" where he argued that you can make a living online with 1000 true fans. Since then, he even lowered this number iirc. And I think that's fair. So, in case you already have this kind of loyal audience, you can even go ahead and ask them if and how they'd like to support your work, what they'd think about getting more exclusive content from you, and if having ways to interact directly with you would be of interest to them. In case you are really just starting with a small fan base, then it will take more time and effort to build your loyal core audience. Still, I'd recommend that you build your own platform as the center of all your activities and don't lock yourself into one of the big social media platforms. If you use LTFP (or other solutions) that really give you ownership of all your fans/customers' data as well as various business model options to chose from, you can really create something sustainable. If you depend on a big centralized platform, you'll always be at their mercy.
